Mühlacker. With maximum performance, perfect ergonomics and improved efficiency, the newest member of elumatec’s SBZ 122 family is raising the bar when it comes to automated machining of aluminium, PVC and steel profiles. These profile machining centres have a minimal footprint and maximize the total productivity per square metre, and at BAU 2019 it was the profile machining centre SBZ 122/70 plus that generated the most interest among the users in attendance.

“Feedback was extremely positive. Customers were happy to see that we are expanding our range and can now meet even more of their demands with the SBZ 122/70 plus”, says Dieter Grau, one of the elumatec AG engineers responsible for its development. The SBZ 122/70 plus has three axes, making it ideal both for small metal construction firms and for suppliers with two-shift operation.

The SBZ 122/70 plus performs all operations, such as routing, drilling and tapping, while the profile bar is stationary in order to protect the profile surfaces. Dynamic servo drives position the machining unit at up to 60 m/min, and additional benefits of the plus model include automatic clamp recognition and positioning, which helps avoid collisions, and an automatic tool changer with four tool tray positions.

Simple, stress-free operation with eluCam

The intuitive, easy-to-use eluCam user interface allows manual changes to be made on the operating panel during operation. The SBZ 122/70 plus uses absolute rotary encoder systems, meaning that no axis homing is required, while a power torque routing motor with enclosed speed control ensures short spindle start-up and braking times.

Intelligent control technology reduces the power consumption of the SBZ 122/70 plus, and an RPM-regulated spindle guarantees high process reliability even with quickly changing loads. The machine can be installed in a very short time and provides a number of significant improvements for its users: the remote-controlled clamp activation increases work safety, while the modern inclined bed, uncovered spindle and height-adjustable control unit make working with the machine more ergonomic.

Optional remote maintenance

For greater convenience, maintenance of the SBZ 122/70 plus can be carried out remotely via TCP/IP using an existing internet connection.

“As we have done in the past, with the SBZ 122/70 plus we are showing that we can react to the demands of our customers. One product that meets their exact needs is just as important as a range of products that cover all their various requirements, and the new member of the SBZ 122 family does that superbly”, says Michael Dehm, Head of Technical Sales at elumatec AG.
