Mühlacker. elumatec has expanded its successful SBZ 628 series with the profile machining centre SBZ 628 S, an entry-level model with all the important basic features which has been specially designed for smaller, industry-oriented metal construction customers. The SBZ 628 S was premiered at BAU 2019 in Munich.

“At the heart of the SBZ 628 S are four router spindles arranged on the rotating ring and the downstream sawing unit for mitre cuts. We have redesigned the machine in order to give our customers an even wider range of user-oriented solutions”, says Roman Wolstein. The General Sales Director at elumatec AG makes clear that maximum flexibility was a key aim in the development and design process. The result is router spindles with which the SBZ 628 S can machine profiles at any desired combination of angles between 0° and 360°, allowing users to obtain perfect routing results no matter what the profile requirements. The generously dimensioned noise abatement enclosure and the easy-access control and maintenance elements make working with the SBZ 628 S simple and efficient.

Optional extra features for even better performance
The loading magazine of the SBZ 628 S can be loaded with five to ten profiles with a length of 3,000-7,600 mm, depending on the profile cross-section. It is equipped with three support swing arms and five lifting rollers, and can be expanded to up to nine of each.
The SBZ 628 S has a patented gripper arm system, which uses an integrated linear servo drive to quickly move even complex profile cross-sections into exactly the right position for machining. The motorized gripper system is automatically adjusted both vertically and horizontally using the profile-specific parameters.

Reliable and fully automatic
The integrated roller tensioner fixes the profile securely, can be moved over the entire length of the profile and can be adjusted to suit the profile geometry. This allows users to compensate for profile tolerances and to ensure that a wide range of profiles are clamped exactly as required, including those with challenging geometries. In addition, support rollers combine with tension rollers to ensure the profile is protected as it passes through the machine.
The SBZ 628 S cutting unit consists of a 2-axis saw unit with a drive power of 5.5 kW which enables profile cross-sections of up to 200 x 160 mm or 160 x 200 mm to be cut and allows separating cuts between 45° and 135°. Plate clamps secure the profiles in place during cutting, and the table plates can be lowered to ensure trouble-free profile transportation.

The material is handled especially gently during profile outfeed: during length cutting the clamping system moves the external grippers into position to lay the machined profiles on the external conveyor. This process ensures controlled transfer at all times and even allows pre-defined withdrawal of extremely short profile lengths. Profile guide rollers and clamping plates can be adapted by means of a quick-change system to accommodate special profile shapes. Users wishing to cut even more complex profiles can use the manual insertion mode to machine the individual profile with customized automation.
