The Jocz company is a window and door manufacturer with a 30-year history. As time has passed, the business has developed a comprehensive portfolio including numerous successfully completed construction projects ranging from private homes to large and prestigious projects, such as the five-star Mikolajki Hotel.
"In light of the boom in the construction industry and the ongoing changes in architectural trends as well as in the course of a growing order volume, we decided to invest in a modern machine pool in order to orient the company towards both current and future market challenges. In the process of selecting a supplier, a visit to Germany in the context of the "elumatec TechDays 2017" open-house event was very helpful and gave us the opportunity to take a close look at the machines offered by this manufacturer. Of importance to us were flexible solutions that offer corresponding performance and precision and, consequently, ensure high product quality", explains Tymoteusz Jocz, deputy technical director at Jocz. The enterprise was the first manufacturer in Poland to incorporate the elumatec SBZ 122/75 profile machining centre of the newest generation into their production process. This machine was distinguished in 2017 with the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD.
The SBZ 122/75 is a brand new 5-axis profile machining centre that is truly unique in its class. elumatec has set new standards with this exceptional system. No other system in this market segment offers a greater variety of possible applications and such large profile machining ranges - and that with minimalistic dimensions. Manufacturers of window and door fittings who invest in elumatec solutions gain an enormous advantage over the competition: all of the required profile processing steps can be accomplished on a single workstation with a small footprint - and that saves time and guarantees the highest precision.

Moreover, the additional C-axis makes it possible to machine the face of profiles from the left and right. Thanks to a saw blade with a diameter of 180 mm, leading and trailing cuts can be made as desired. The blade is picked up by the automatic tool changer with the spindle and can be inclined from -120 to +120 degrees and pivoted from -220 to +220 degrees with perfect accuracy, All intermediate angles can also be configured.
In addition to this machining centre, the production shop in Ryn was also equipped with one of the popular, high-precision double mitre saws, a DG 244 by elumatec, and an EP 124/20 corner crimper which delivers the highest pressing force on the market with up to seven tonnes and a maximum pressed profile height of 200 mm. The combination of the SBZ 122/75 profile machining centre with the DG 244 double mitre saw represents an ideal duet for the machining of façade profiles. This solution enables fast and precise processing of profiles with large cross-sections, which was an important consideration for the manufacturer located in the Masuria region of Poland.

Production is currently fully automated and entirely paper-free. The investment in modern solutions has entailed significant changes in the organization of the production process at Jocz. It has brought about an increase in capacity and the reduction of random errors while also enabling an expansion of the firm's range and successful entry into new markets.

"Thanks to the latest in production technologies, our plant ensures rapid job processing even when faced with unusual customer requirements. The in-house quality management guidelines that have been implemented and the regular inspections by Polish construction material regulatory bodies give customers the assurance that all JOCZ brand products are of first-class quality", says Andrzej Goleń, head of the aluminium department at Jocz. In times of steadily increasing popularity of the Industry 4.0 concept, the implementation of technologies which increase tempos, improve quality and at the same time lower costs is an imperative. Manufacturers are dedicated to the further development of automation and the implementation of the most modern technical and engineering solutions possible - all in combination with a sophisticated production management system.
"When planning additional developmental measures, business owners must carefully consider which objectives need to be reached and whether these are compatible with the general vision for development the company pursues. The degree of automation should be adapted to suit the respective plant with its possibilities and requirements.
Today, the Jocz company is an outstanding example of a well thought out development concept and I hope that it will inspire many more domestic manufacturers to embrace change as well", says Waldemar Lis, managing director at elumatec Polska.
